Hello everyone, I hope y’all are doing great. Boruto chapter 67 is finally out(well, it's been around a week since it's out now) and there are stuffs happened that I was actually not expecting. This blog is gonna have spoilers for Boruto chapter 67, so you've been warned in advance.
In chapter 66, Kawaki killed Boruto in order to save Naruto. The chapter ended with Boruto's dead body with a huge hole on his chest, with Boroshiki mode still active. We were left with a cliff hanger, we all had questions "How will Boruto come back to life? Is Momosiki dead? Will Kawaki turn towards his dark side and join back Kara?". We finally have answers now that Boruto Chapter 67 is out.
So, lets start with what we already knew before Boruto chapter 67 came out. We knew that Kawaki and Boruto are going to have a "final fight" against each other and they do have their Kāma and both of them seem to be in full control on their body as per the flash forward that we saw in the first scene of Boruto Chapter 1 as well as Episode 1.
We also know that Ishiki's soul have vanished for eternity. However Kawaki still got back his Kāma, thanks to Amado. We also know that Boruto and well as Kawaki's body have already been transformed into 80% Ōtsutsuki. Also, the progression did stop for Kawaki(since Ishiki's is no more in existence), however the progression was still ongoing for Boruto, however the process had been slowed down a bit thanks to Amado's Byakugan pills. Because of that, Boruto did had some control in Boroshiki mode, even thought it was for a short amount of time.
There had been a lot of theories ever since chapter 66 came out. Someone even speculated that Boruto's Jougan will be the one that will revive him, which I wasn't too sure if they would do as Jougan has not yet appeared in the manga. In episode 1 of the anime, when we see Boruto using his Jougan in his fight against Kawaki (in the flash forward), however in manga, Boruto's Jougan is not that obvious due to which fans believed that it's Byakugan(even speculating that it's Hinata's Byakugan). Writers did revealed that there will be changes in the design once we finally reach to that point, so they might reveal it to be a Jougan instead. Even in manga, the design of Boruto's dojutsu seemed a bit different from Byakugan.
In Boruto chapter 67, it is revealed that 82% of Boruto's body had been transformed to Ōtsutsuki so far, till Kawaki killed him that is. So Boruto is dead, or is he? In this chapter, Momoshiki reveals that Boruto was actually supposed to die. If this would have happened then Momosiki's soul would also vanish just like that of Ishiki. Momoshiki's soul would only survive if his vessel i.e. Boruto doesn't die. As a last resort, Momoshiki used his Byakugan and Rinnegan to manipulate the Kāma pattern and used the remaining 18% of his data to fill the hole in Boruto's chest, healing his would.
Momoshiki also revealed that he can no longer resurrect himself as he had to use the remaining 18% of what would have been Momoshiki's body in order to save Boruto.
However, this also mean that 100% of Kāma extraction is complete now. In other words, Boruto is a 100% Ōtsutsuki now, making him a perfect sacrifice for Jyuubi(Ten Tails).
