Gold (Boruto Opening 10) – Foreshadowing future event?

Hello everyone, I hope y’all are doing great. The latest Boruto opening (Gold - performed by Flow) is trending in the Boruto community right now, everyone are sharing their thoughts regarding the opening, so I thought, why don’t I share my thoughts as well. Kindly note that there will be Boruto anime as well as manga spoilers, so you've been warned in advance. In case you are updated with Boruto anime and manga, or do not care about spoilers, you can go ahead and read the rest of this blog. Else, you may proceed at your own risk. So lets begin.

Flow have performed Naruto 4th and 8th opening theme(GO!!! and Re:member) as well as Naruto Shippuden 6th opening (Sign) as well as 34th ending theme (Niji no Sora). Recently, the new opening for Boruto titled “Gōrudo” aka “Gold” was been released from episode 231 that comes under ongoing “Kawaki (Leaf’s Shinobi) Arc”. To be honest, I really loved the opening and it’s currently my number 1 favourite Boruto opening.

There are theories going on in the Boruto community that the opening is foreshadowing Boruto’s death in chapter 66 of Boruto manga. I watched a video in YouTube recently where they say that after Kawaki killed Boruto, he left his leaf edition headband that Boruto gave him. So, the scene in the opening where a leaf shinobi headband is shown with a baby plant growing, the headband is Boruto’s headband that he gave to Kawaki. Now I personally don’t completely agree with that. The point is that, in manga, Kawaki doesn’t originally had Leaf shinobi headband, so Boruto gave his own headband to Kawaki. In anime on the other hand, Kawaki actually went through a process after which he officially became a leaf shinobi and a member of Team 7 lead by Chunin captain Sarada Uchiha. He also got his own headband before leaving for his very first mission. It is possible that they may introduce some episode or arc in anime where Kawaki’s had band gets damaged or reaches an unusable condition after which Boruto may lend his own headband to Kawaki, just like manga.

I do not disagree with what the scene mean. I re-watched the opening multiple times before writing this blog and I found that the whole opening does sort of foreshadow Boruto’s death and resurrection. The opening seems to have a great portion where Team 7 and Team 10 (Ino Shika Cho) seemed pretty sad. The rain symbolises the upcoming dark times and everyone holding an umbrella that might symbolise funeral of some major character, but it doesn’t ends there. The only of the two teams that has been shown without umbrella and before rain was none other than Boruto. Then they showed that Boruto seemed alone facing the sun, but Kawaki and his friends reminding him that he is not alone. Not just that, at the end of the opening, all members of Team 7 used one of their power-up moves, however, if you observe carefully, Kawaki then Sarada and then Mitsuki all show there power ups from the right side, on the other hand Boruto uses his rasengan from the left side instead. This may be a foreshadowing Kawaki fighting against Boruto to protect Naruto and the village. The opening ends with the same scene as the beginning a headband and a new plant growing representing Boruto somehow coming back to life (as we already know from the flash forward that Boruto is alive in the future). Note that I am writing this blog much before Boruto Chapter 67 comes out, so I am currently not aware of what happened in it.
