In the blog, I am going to present before you, my theory on why did Ben became evil and transformed to Eon.
Eon is one of the alien present in one version of Ben's Omnitrix. Yeah, I believe that not all Ben have Eon in their Omnitrix. This may sound confusing especially if you are a Ben 10 classic only fan, so I'll explain you what I mean to say.
In 2007, a live action movie came out titled "Ben 10: Race Against Time". Eon was been introduced for the very first time in this movie. Eon is an alien with ability to manipulate and travel across time. So, he is basically a time traveller. Eon travelled to 200 years before the events of this movie in search of Ben. Eon is also aware of Omnitrix and is in search of Ben for his Omnitrix. Now he did cam to Earth 200 years before the events on this movie, however, Omnitrix didn't exist at this point of time. How do I know that you ask? Well, there are things that are common across almost all Ben 10 universes, including the origin of the Omnitrix. Omnitix has been created twice in at least prime Ben universe however all universes that have Omnitrix started with the same one that almost all Ben got at the beginning. This is the Omnitrix that we saw during Ben 10 classic series. The live action movie version of Ben also has the same Omnitrix. Now in case you do not know, this Omnitrix was not made for Ben, it was made for someone else, someone who didn't exist 200 years back. Ben was able to use it because of a reason.
Let's first see why the Omnitrix was been created. A Galvin named Azmuth, during his youth, was in a relationship with a female Galvin named Zennith. It was during this time that inspires by a planetary alignment, he created a sword named "Ascalon". Zennith disapproved it and left him. Much later, a young plumber gained a lot of fame due to his expertise that he used to fight the intergalactic criminals. Azmuth created Omnitrix for this plumber hoping to establish peace and harmony across the galaxy. This young plumber was none other than Max Tennyson. Ben was able to use the omnitrix because he was Max Tennyson's grandson and therefore had DNA close to his DNA. This is why in one of the universes, Gwen became the user of Omnitrix instead of Ben and she also shared DNA close to Max Tennyson being his granddaughter. Now Max obviously didn't exist 200 years before the events on this movie. So now we know the origin of Omnitrix and why it didn't exist 200 years back.
We must remember that this Omnitrix does not have Eon's DNA in it. Eon is a time traveller and he was searching for Ben with his Omnitix for a reason. Here my theory begins. I believe that Eon is trapped in a time loop. Let me explain, after the events on this movie, Eon has appeared multiple times during Ben 10 series. I do not count Ben 10 reboot as I haven't watched it. Anyways, the point is that every time he appeared after the events of this movie he was young while when he first appeared in this move he was pretty, in fact, he was even in the verge of death. Eon knew a lot about Omnitrix and he even knew how the events of this movie would take place. He was searching for Ben before he dies, it's because the Omnitrix didn't had Eon's DNA and he needed to plant it in the Omnitix before he dies. This was the only way that he could have revived. Before he died, he activated the Eon transformation and Ben transformed to Eon. This is how he intended to revive. He also revealed that he is Ben. After Eon revived through Omnitrix transformation, Ben eventually gained control and transformed back to Ben form. Ben thought that this was the end of Eon, however he was stuck in a time loop.
In Alien Force, it was revealed that the events on this movie happened in an alternate timeline and not in prime timeline. This has been shown several time across the series that the aliens in the Omnitrix can have a mind of their own. For example, Ghost Freak escaped Omnitrix and needed full control over it in order to be immune to sun. This wasn't the last time that was saw that Ben's aliens can have a mind of their own. In Ultimate Alien, it was revealed that the ultimate aliens in the Ultimatrix were all alive. Now, Ultimatrix was not complete and sort of defective that caused, however Omnitirx does have a version of this like in the case of Ghost Freak, however unlike Ghost Freak, not all aliens can escape the Omnitrix by their own. Therefore, they sort of life by gaining control over Ben just like how Ben gains control over them. Still not convinced? Before the event in Ultimate Alien, another alien, also ghost like alien, did this during the events of Alien Force. He did this by gaining control over Ben's body when he was in his human form. This alien was Big Chill and he did this when he got pregnant and had to prepare to give birth to his kids. Of course, not all aliens have evil intention for taking over Ben's body. All this events had just temporary control over Ben, even the events that happened in the live action movie was also temporary control of Eon.
That explains how Eon must gained control over Ben after the events of the live action movie. Now the next question arises, why did this Ben become Eon in a more permanent manner that the other cases? This question was been answered in this live action movie itself by none other that Eon. Transformation Omnitrix was limited to 10 minutes, due to this Ben can't sustain a transformation for more that 10 minutes. There is a reason for this limit, it's a fail safe. Azmuth knew that a transformation for more than 10 minute can lead to the transformed alien taking full control over Ben's body. So, my theory is that what must have happened is that at some point of time after the events of this movie, Eon gained control over Ben's body in his human form just like Big Chill, he also managed to stay transformed and break this fail safe to stay transformed. He went throughout he several quests parts of which involved crossed path with Ben prime and therefore we saw his appearance several time during the series. Once he grew old, he didn't remember the exact time when the events of this movies occurred, therefore he kept travelling across different points on time knowing that he will eventually reach the correct time. His appearance 200 years back was one of the points he went to searching for Ben, in order to plant his DNA and revive himself. He eventually reached the correct point of time and completed his mission, thereby continuing the time loop.
So that was my theory on why Ben became evil Ben (as Eon) and stayed in this form.
