Hello everyone, I hope y’all are doing great.
So, I finally watched a Star Wars movie. I wanted to start from the very first movie and apparently it's episode 4 and not 1. Anyways, Star Wars has always been one of the most popular cinematic universe and the first movie "Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope" that came out in the year 1977 has IMDB rating 8.6/10 which is pretty impressive. Based on all the feedback I got, I went into the movie with really high hopes. No offence, I was really disappointed. I actually even like the movie "The Incredible Hulk" of MCU more than this Star Wars movie even though that fans hate that MCU movie so much.
To be honest, the movie was not exactly bad, the story was ok, the effects and stuffs were pretty good considering that this is a 1970's movie. However, I really didn't enjoy it much. For eg, first they threatened Princess Leia of destroying her planet and when she provides with the info, they destroy her planet anyways. It didn't affected me that much. In the movie "Infinity War" Thanos destroyed a planet off screen and I did care as I had some connection to it through the first "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie, however I had no connection with Princess Leia's planet. It's like why should I even care about it, I don't even know about it. I was not even aware of it's existence a few minutes before the scene where they destroyed it. There may be some connection that might be established with that planet in the later movies, however destruction of that planet at the current point of time doesn't have that much of an impact in my opinion. Then we have the two bots "C-3PO" and "R2-D2". I am not really sure why one can speak English (and many more languages) and the other one can't. Although these robots seemed to have much more personality as compared to someone like Darth Vader, who is supposed to be the main antagonist of this movie. I know that Darth Vader does have appearances in later movies where they probably gave him a good personality growth. Darth Vader was the only Star Wars character I knew about before watching this movie and watching him being a sort of a bland character was disappointing, especially considering the fact that he is supposed to be the main antagonist of more than one movies.
Obi Wan Kenobi seems to be a decent character, however his death did seemed to a such a waste of character. I do hear rumour regarding something regarding him that is upcoming or is now available, not exactly sure about that it is about and if it is a movie of a Disney+ series.
Over all I would give it 6/10 in my first watch. I do plan to watch later movies like "Start Wars: Chapter 5", however I am not too sure when I would watch it considering I didn't exactly like this movie that much and I do have better stuffs to watch.
